| I’ve heard that while NASA spent years developing a pen that would write in absence of gravity, the russians instead decided to take a pencil to the moon. I have been pondering for weeks on how to get rid of the weight of my hydration bag from my back, without realising that the solution was right in front of my nose, or should I say my cockpit. Yesterday I pulled myself together, picked up a drill and a 10 mm bit and drilled a hole in the rubber cover of my Tiderace’s convenience hatch, the one just fore of the cockpit. I passed through it the connecting tube to a Patyplus 2 litre drinking bag, filled it with water, put it inside the hatch and voilà!, my new hydration system is ready. Budget: 0 €. Time spent: 15 min, including what it took me to make the pictures and the video. Note: if you insert a 1.5 water litre bag, there’s still room in the convenience hatch for a mobile phone and a few bits and pieces. Tip: if you decide to go ahead, drill the hole from the outside to the inside of the hatch, so that the tunnel created in the rubber by the drill friction remains on the inside. |
